WELCOME TO THE MENTOR FIRE TRAINING SITE
This page is a tool to disseminate consistent and uniform training classes and programs across our department. Please utilize it when instructed to do so and also as a resource when you need training topics and material. This new format, updated January 2018, is now much more mobile friendly.
This is the official Ohio EMS Trauma Triage presentation as
endorsed and released by the Division of EMS. It is a newer presentation that is no longer hosted on the Public Safety Training Campus. It is a recorded webcast that you must register for with the required information. At the end there is a 20 question quiz. Once you pass this you will be emailed a certificate of completion.

Fire Investigation for Fire Officers
As a part of our ongoing initiative towards fire officer development, this assigned on-line certificate program for fire investigation will bolster the knowledge and resume of our officer corp. The program will provide a thorough overview of the fire investigation process and substantiate the abilities of our fire officers to initiate investigations on small and obvious incidents that do not require Fire Investigation Unit call-outs. Please remember to enter drill reports as you work through the modules.

FIRE SAFETY INSPECTOR
UL FIREFIGHTER SAFETY RESEARCH INSTITUTE STUDIES
Take some time to review the scientific report and watch the videos on the UL Firefighter Safety Institute Website. The research is based on transitional fire attack, flow path and fire stream effect on flow path. The Full Scale Study Program is now available as well. This is the culmination of both studies and the application utilizing transitional attacks.
The new Ohio Department of Public Safety, Live Fire Instructor (LFI) certification only applies to those providing instruction during live fire training for certification programs. This means the live fire portions of an initial firefighter academy. This certification will not affect anything we do on a day to day basis as instructors for the Mentor Fire Department. However, all that is needed to attain the LFI certification for anyone who obtained their fire instructor certification prior to April 6, 2014, is to complete and submit an application. Any instructors who certified after April 6, 2014 would have to attend 24 hours of training from a charter school to attain their LFI certification. While this certification is not required to have while instructing a live evolution with certified firefighters, it is recommended. The application is linked below if you would like to complete it and send it to the state.
